Turners of Bond Street was founded as a family company before the second world war, and remains a family company as we enter the 21st century.

Frederick Turner, the current owners grandfather first set up shop in Kingstanding, Birmingham. For the first few decades the shop sold general foods and provisions, not specifically specialising in bacon.

Frederick's son, Eric, first set up the Bacon side of the business in 1974 - operating from the back of the shop and delivering bacon by van to grocers and butchers - who used to slice the bacon themselves for their customers.

By 1976 the company had outgrown the shop and moved to the current premises in West Bromwich, by now specialising in bacon and nothing else.

Under the control of Eric's son, Peter, Turners of Bond Street has continued to prosper and expand its facilities and turnover.

The outbreak of Foot and Mouth disease in the year 2000 obviously created a serious problem with supply, but Peter wisely used this time to service, decorate and improve premises and facilities - ensuring the business was well placed to satisfy a continuing increase in demand for its products.
